MEETING OF THE ABET COORDINATORS
October 3, 2001

Discussion:

1.  Accreditation schedule and visit arrangements were discussed.
2.  Representatives from supporting departments/groups were introduced.
3.  Frank Ashby described what the ABET evaluators will want from the support groups.
4.  There will not be a rehersal visit.
5.  Angela Linse pointed out that Ron Miller recommended an information sheet and the matrix table for faculty so they know what the visit is about.  Ron Miller also said that ABET is interested in how programs are closing the loop.

Action Items:

• The supporting departments/groups should let Mary Cook now if they can attend the dinner and lunch.
• The supporting groups should tell Mary if the names on the list of attendees are correct.
• Frank will borrow textbooks from the supporting programs.
• Mike Grigoni wants a copy of the financial information that is in the Appendix II self-study.
• The tables in the Departments' and the College's self-studies need to be updated before the visit.
• Frank will send the criteria used to admit students in engineering to the supporting departments.
• Mary will ask Sherra Kerns which support groups the ABET team wants to visit.  In particular, will they want to visit CSE as a supporting group?
• Departments' course materials will be kept in the department for review.
• Chen-Ching Liu asked the departments to send copies of their correspondence with the ABET program evaluators to him.
• Each program needs to have a meeting room reserved and tell Mary the room number.
• Students should know where to find missions, goals, and how they play into the process.
• Chen-Ching can put together an information session if the support groups need it.
• The questions on the back of the student evaluation forms should be continued.
• ABET coordinators will meet again before the visit on October 17th at 8:00 a.m. in 355 Loew Hall.
