MEETING OF ABET COORDINATORS

Discussion:
- Mani Soma gave the group the final version of the June dry run
visit and the final COE mission statement.
- Discussed how involved department personnel should be with the
dry run. Perhaps the department chair should spend 15 minutes with
the evaluator. The ABET committee and coordinator, and department
adviser should also meet with the evaluator. Meetings will take
place at the department sites.
- The evaluator should be able to come back and tell us where
each department is in the "Level of Implementation".
- Cindy Atman, Robin Adams, Molly Johnson, and Mike Safoutin
explained some assessment tools described in the handouts,
"Preparing for ABET Self-Study reports: A Summary of UW Tools and
Resources", and "EC 2000 Outcome Attributes: Definition and
Use".
Action Items:
- Organizational Infrastructure will make copies of all of the
department's self-study volumes and express mail everything to the
evaluators on May 15, 2000.
- Mani Soma will finalize the dry run meeting schedule and send
it to the departments, and notify the chairs when the schedule is
finalized.
- When the evaluators complete their review, a copy will be sent
to the ABET Coordinators. The outcome of the dry run will be
discussed at the first Autumn ABET Coordinators meeting.
